Young man, 22, from Virginia dies in two-car crash at Angle Vale
A YOUNG man has died after a two-car crash at an intersection in Adelaide’s north. Meanwhile a pedestrian is in a critical condition after being hit by a car in a separate crash just west of the city.
A DRIVER has died after a two-car crash at an intersection in Adelaide’s north.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Heaslip and Curtis roads, at Angle Vale, after a Toyota station wagon and a Ford station wagon collided just before 6pm on Saturday.
The driver of the Toyota — a 22-year-old man from Virginia — sadly died at the scene, while the other driver — a 51-year-old man from Angle Vale — was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The intersection was closed for several hours while Major Crash commenced their investigation but it has since reopened to all traffic.
The man’s death takes the State’s road toll to 69 as compared to 53 for the same time last year.
Meanwhile, a pedestrian is in a critical condition after being hit by a car and getting pinned underneath at an Adelaide intersection.
Emergency services were called to Anzac Hwy, near the intersection of Maynard Rd, at Plympton, after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car about 12.40am on Sunday.
A 26-year-old man, of Warradale, was trapped under the car for a short time. He received serious injuries and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

On Friday, an elderly woman died in the arms of a stranger following a freak carpark accident at the Westside Findon Shopping Centre.
On Tuesday, Noarlunga Downs tradie Ryan English died when the car he was a passenger in left Pages Flat Rd at Myponga and rolled into a creek.
On the same day, a man died after a motorcycle crashed on the Princes Highway at Millicent, southeast of Adelaide.
Last Sunday, a 28-year-old rider died after his motorbike T-boned a ute at Andrews Farm.
Earlier that day a West Beach man, 72, died after crashing his motorcycle into a road barrier at Nairne.
