Magistrate Bob Harrap resigns from his post, two days after facing court on corruption charges
Magistrate Bob Harrap, who faced an Adelaide court on corruption charges this week following an ICAC investigation, has resigned.

South Australian Magistrate Bob Harrap has resigned from his post just two days after facing court on corruption charges.
SA’s Chief Magistrate, Judge Mary-Louise Hribal, confirmed Harrap had “tendered his resignation” on Wednesday night.
“Under the Magistrates Act, he is required to give the Attorney-General notice of one month and that means his resignation takes effect 10 August, 2020,” she said in a statement.
On Monday Harrap faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court but is yet to plead to two basic counts of deceiving another to benefit himself.
The same charges have been filed against two women – SA Police prosecutor Sergeant Abigail Rebecca Foulkes and a woman whose identity is suppressed. Each are charged with one count of the same offence.
Court documents allege Harrap and Foulkes deceived a Courts Administration Authority staff member at Christie Downs on May 19.
It is alleged they misrepresented who was driving Harrap’s taxpayer-issued government car when it committed a traffic offence at 6.13pm on March 24. It is further alleged Harrap and the other woman committed a similar offence on May 22 by misrepresenting who was driving Harrap’s car at 3.36pm on April 11.
Harrap is also charged with one count each of being a public officer who abused his public office and of attempting to obstruct or pervert the course of justice.
He faces between four and 10 years in prison if convicted.
The trio are expected to face court later this month.
