A family-owned pet store in Port Adelaide has been left devastated after their beloved bird “Archie” was stolen on Wednesday.
The owner of the Petsland store in the Port Mall is offering a cash reward for anyone who can help find the “scum” responsible for the theft of their “family member”.
In an emotional Facebook plea, which has been shared nearly 2000 times, the shop said the incident was hard to deal with after working “ourselves to the bone”.
“As a small family owned business, shoplifting is hard enough to deal with ... When someone steals our FAMILY MEMBER we are beside ourselves!
“It’s horrible to think she won’t be in her home in her little hammock tonight,” owner Joanna said in the comments section.
The supposed theft was not caught on camera, but the shop said they have footage of Archie in her spot just before 1.50pm on Wednesday.
They are now reviewing footage around the Port Mall.
When someone asked if she flew away, they responded: “No, she has trimmed wings so wouldn’t be able to go far.”
“We did check all surrounding areas and I have a very unusual call she responds to.
“So if she was out there, I’d have heard her.”
