The driver involved in a serious crash at Gawler East that left a teenager fighting for life in hospital has been arrested and charged two days after allegedly fleeing the scene.
Madison Rees,25, was being treated for injuries in on Friday after she presented herself in hospital 24 hours after the crash.
She allegedly fled the scene after crashing into a Stobie pole on Daly Street at Gawler East about 12.45am Thursday.
Moments before the crash, Barossa police tried to stop the Mitsubishi Lancer on Gozzard Street but the car refused to stop and was seen heading north on Duffield Street.
Officers pursued the vehicle “for a short time” before the chase was called off due to safety reasons.
Rees had allegedly left the scene, while a 16-year-old girl in the back passenger seat was critically injured.

The injured girl, of no fixed address, was taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
A 21-year-old man, also of no fixed address, suffered minor injuries and was treated in the Lyell McEwin Hospital.
Police put out an appeal to find Rees on Thursday, and held serious concerns for her safety, urging her to seek medical treatment due to the significant impact to the driver’s side of the vehicles.
Officers made numerous inquiries with friends and family to try to locate her on Thursday.
Major Crash Officers arrested and charged Rees of no fixed address with two counts of causing harm by dangerous driving, leaving the scene of an accident after causing harm, and driving dangerously to escape police pursuit.
She did not apply for bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.
