RECENTLY retired Port Adelaide player Jack Watts has been summonsed to appear in court over a car crash days before he called time on his AFL career.

SA Police said a 29-year-old man from Henley Beach South was reported from failing to report a crash and driving without due care following an incident on September 20.

News Corp has confirmed Watts, who cleaned out his locker at Alberton on September 22 before his retirement was confirmed two days later, was the man involved.

Police will allege that Watts failed to stop when the Toyota Kluger he was driving collided with a Mazda sedan parked on Coral Sea Road at Fulham.

No one was injured in the incident.

News Corp understands that the damage was considered to be minimal and Watts reported himself to police afterwards.

Watts, a former No. 1 Draft pick for Melbourne, has endured significant scrutiny ever since he entered the AFL.

After playing 152 games for the Demons he moved to Port Adelaide ahead of the 2018 season, and managed 21 games for the Power.

He has not played since Round 2 of the 2019 season after he suffered a horrific broken leg and ankle against Carlton.

The week prior he played arguably his best match for the Power, against the Demons, in which he gave an emotional post-game interview after being embroiled in two off-field incidents that summer.
