A teenager accused of leaving another man with serious head injuries in an late night city brawl has faced court for the first time.

Cyrus Kane Stusser, 18, of Noarlunga Downs appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court charged with serious assault offences.

The offences stem from an incident on Hindley Street at 1.30am on July 5.

Police were patrolling the area when they spotted a fight in progress down the notorious party strip.

As officers were making their way to the scene they saw one man drop to the ground. Officers were required to deploy OC spray to bring the brawl to an end. Stusser was arrested at the scene and initially denied bail.

He was later released on bail ahead of his court hearings. His alleged victim, a 30-year-old Blair Athol man suffered serious head injuries.

Stusser was charged with intentionally causing serious harm and, as an alternative to the first charge, recklessly causing serious harm.

In court on Tuesday the prosecution asked for an adjournment for further medical evidence which would establish the extent of the victim’s injuries.

Magistrate David McLeod granted the four week adjournment.
