Patrols responded to an incident on Parkside Row after a Toyota sedan mounted the kerb and crashed into a sign on the footpath about 6.30pm on Saturday.

“We are absolutely angry that this Victorian has come across the border, done the wrong thing, broken the commitment that he made in terms of self-isolation, and then was caught for drink-driving,” he said.

“The police in SA will absolutely throw the book at this individual.”

The man was arrested and hit with a $1060 fine for breaching the quarantine direction. He was also charged with drink-driving, driving while disqualified and aggravated driving without due care.
