FRIDAY, DECEMBER 4

WOMAN INDECENTLY ASSAULTED IN PORT LINCOLN

A woman walking in Port Lincoln last week was indecently assaulted by an unknown man.

She was walking along Henderson Drive at about 8.30pm last Thursday, November 26, when the man approached and assaulted her.

She was not injured.

The man is described as being in his early 20s, of African appearance, about 160 cm tall, with black afro-style hair shaved at the sides, very white teeth, a shiny diamond stud in his right earlobe and a slight African accent.

He was wearing matching blue Adidas pants and top with three white stripes.

Police are still searching for the suspect.

SPEEDING DRIVER ON METH COPS HUGE FINE

A woman who was caught driving almost 50km/h over the speed limit at Wellington overnight tested positive to meth, police say.

Police stopped a Hyundai on the Princes Highway driving 156km/h in a 110km/h zone around 6pm Thursday.

The 21-year-old female driver from near Murray Bridge was drug tested and allegedly returned a positive sample to methamphetamine.

The woman was issued a $1750 speeding fine and was reported for drug driving.

She gained nine demerit points and her licence was disqualified for six months.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 3

PEDESTRIAN HIT BY CAR

A pedestrian has been seriously injured after he was hit by a car at Bolivar on Thursday morning.

He was hit on Port Wakefield Road just before 5.30am.

Police say he suffered serious injuries and Major Crash investigators will examine the scene throughout the morning.

Northbound traffic on Port Wakefield Road is being diverted at the intersection of Ryans and Martins roads.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2

MAN STABBED AT THEBARTON

Police are urging anyone with information on a stabbing at Thebarton to come forward.

A man was stabbed on George Street about 7.50pm on Wednesday.

When officers arrived, they found the man with stab wounds to his chest.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

His injuries are not considered life threatening.

Police ask anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

JEWELLERY STORE THEFT LEAVES TRAIL OF BLOOD

A trail of blood has been left at the scene of a city store, after jewellery was taken in an early morning break-in.

The front window of a jewellery store inside Adelaide Arcade, off Rundle Mall, was smashed and jewellery was stolen from the displays.

A security guard discovered the break-in while patrolling the arcade about 6am Wednesday.

Police believe the break-in occurred between 4am and 6am Wednesday.

The quantity of stolen jewellery is not yet known, but is described as contemporary designs in sterling silver.

Crime scene investigators went to the scene this morning and kept Adelaide Arcade closed while they took evidence from the scene. The arcade reopened to the public around 9am.

Anyone who saw or heard suspicious activity in the vicinity of the Adelaide Arcade in the early hours of this morning is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

WOMAN ARRESTED IN HENLEY BEACH STABBING

A woman has been arrested after she allegedly stabbed a man known to her in the back at Henley Beach overnight.

The incident happened about 2.30am Wednesday at a home on Wright Street.

A 42-year-old man was treated at the scene for a single stab wound, before he was conveyed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious, but stable, condition.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested over the incident at the scene.

She was charged with aggravated assault causing harm. Police expect she will be refused bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

Both persons in this incident are known to each other, with the alleged assault considered domestic related.

DRUG AND CASH HAUL AT GLOSSOP

A man has been arrested for trafficking drugs in a school zone after police uncovered a large amount of cash, drugs and drug related equipment in a Riverland raid on Tuesday

Police searched a home at Glossop and found dried cannabis, drug paraphernalia and nearly $121,000 in cash.

A 64-year-old Glossop man was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled drug in a school zone and money laundering.

He was bailed to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court in January.

DRUGS AND FIREARMS SEIZED AT WOODVILLE PARK

A man has been arrested following a discovery of cannabis and two firearms at his Woodville Park home.

At 9am Wednesday morning, police attended the house to find a grow room containing three cannabis plans growing hydroponically.

Police also seized 1kg of dried cannabis and discovered the electricity was being bypassed.

During the search officers also located two insecure firearms and a large quantity of ammunition. The guns were not stored in a suitable safe.

A 44-year-old man from Woodville Park was charged with cultivating cannabis, trafficking a controlled drug, possessing prescribed equipment, diverting electricity and a number of firearms offences.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 3 December.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1

WOMAN WAKES TO AN ASSAULT IN THE PARKLANDS

A woman sleeping in West Parklands was woken by another woman assaulting her with a rock or stick overnight,

The 30-year-old was assaulted about 3am Tuesday.

The victim escaped and walked to a nearby service station where she asked for help. She was taken by ambulance to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of superficial cuts and bruising.

The female suspect is described as of Aboriginal appearance, with a solid build, wearing all black clothing with dyed yellow hair. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

SERVO ROBBED AT KNIFE POINT

A man is on the run after robbing a service station at knifepoint at West Croydon overnight.

A man entered the Port Road service station armed with a large knife and demanded cash from the till about 3am Tuesday.

The suspect took a small amount of money and fled on foot – he was last seen walking south across Port Road.

The worker was not injured in the incident.

Police searched the area but were unable to find the suspect.

The male suspect is described as caucasian, wearing a black Everlast hooded top and trackpants. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a surgical mask carrying a hunting style knife with a 15cm blade.

SUSPECTED DRUNK DRIVER CRASHES

A suspected drink driver was taken to hospital after crashing into a Stobie pole at Thebarton overnight.

Residents reported a loud crash at the intersection of James Street and Light Terrace at Thebarton around 5am Tuesday.

The driver, a 27-year-old Bedford Park man, was the only occupant of the vehicle.

He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

A blood sample was taken and pending analysis, he may face charges of drink driving, aggravated driving without due care and driving unlicensed.

His car was towed from the scene.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 30

TEENS ARRESTED FOLLOWING WELLAND ROBBERY

Three teenagers who robbed a service station last Tuesday have been arrested.

Just before 2.30am on Tuesday 24 November, police were called to a Port Road service station after a staff member activated an alarm.

Two teens, wearing cloth masks over their faces, threatened the staff member with a knife and demanded he hand over cigarettes.

They stole a quantity of cigarettes and were last seen on Port Road heading south.

Police investigated the issue and have arrested a 16-year-old boy from Seaford Meadows, a 14-year-old boy from Totness and a 15-year-old boy from Myponga.

All three boys were charged with aggravated robbery.

The 16 and 14-year-old boys will appear in court at a later date. The 15-year-old was granted bail and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on 8 January.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER NORTHERN SUBURBS ASSAULT AND BREAK-IN

A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly breaking into a Northfield home and assaulting a resident with multiple knives over the weekend.

The man was reported to have entered the home on Grand Junction Road before allegedly assaulting a man with knives about 5pm Saturday, ‘

The suspect left the premises and was last seen heading south on Rowe Avenue.

The victim, an 18-year-old man, was taken to Modbury Hospital and treated for non-life threatening cuts to his hands and back.

Police located the suspect 40 minutes after the incident, hiding in the rear yard of a home on Rowe Avenue.

The 39-year-old male suspect from Broadview was arrested and charged with serious criminal trespass, assault and two counts of endangering life.

He did not apply for bail and is expected to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.

DRINK DRIVER CRASHES AT GLANDORE

A driver who allegedly blew more than five times over the legal blood alcohol limit after crashing into a Stobie pole at Glandore this morning has been arrested.

Police were following a car on Cross Road about 3.20am Monday when the car pulled over and the driver walked off. Patrols then received reports a car had crashed into a Stobie pole on nearby Almond Grove and drove off.

Under suspicion the man they were following had been involved in the crash, they caught up with him on Winifred Avenue.

The 30-year-old man from Henley Beach South was breath tested and returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.260, more than five times over the legal blood alcohol limit of 0.05.

He was arrested and charged with drink driving and driving without due care.

He lost his licence for 12 months and his car was impounded for 28 days.

The man was bailed to appear in court at a later date.

MOTORCYCLIST DIES IN NEWTON CRASH

Police are investigating after a car and motorbike collided on Gorge Road at Newton.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 2pm on Sunday.

CAR SMASHES INTO MAGILL ROAD BUSINESS

A driver has escaped unharmed after crashing into a business on Magill Road on Sunday morning.

The crash happened just before 9.15am, when the driver ploughed into VELUX’s shopfront at St Morris.

It caused the front window of the shop to smash, and a side wall to crumble.

SA Police said there were no reported injuries, but the driver was treated for shock.

WOMAN HOSPITALISED AFTER MOLOTOV ATTACK

A 72-year-old Mile End woman was taken to hospital after a molotov cocktail was thrown into her home on Sunday morning.

The arson attack happened at her home on Cuming Street just before 5am.

P-PLATER CLOCKED DOING 215 KM/H

A P-plater will appear in court after he was caught allegedly speeding more than 120 km/h over the speed limit at Kudla on Sunday.

The driver – an 18-year-old from Evanston Park – was pulled over on Main North Road just after 8.30am.

Police say he was travelling at 215 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.

He was reported for driving at a dangerous speed and his Holden sedan was impounded for 28 days. He will appear in court at a later date.

MOUNT GAMBIER SAWMILL BLAZE EXTINGUISHED

A fire that started in a transformer at a Mount Gambier timber mill has been extinguished.

The blaze started about 9pm on Saturday after an electrical fault in a transformer at the One Forty One Sawmill on Jubilee Highway.

More than 25 firefighters rushed to the scene, but were not able to tackle the fire until SA Power Networks arrived on the scene to isolate the power.

Once that was done, it took MFS and CFS crews just five minutes to fully extinguish the blaze.

An advice message was issued for residents in the area, as smoke was drifting across houses.

The fire was contained to just the transformer, causing an estimated damage bill of $250,000. The rest of the timber mill was protected.

Environment Protection Authority officers were on the scene to provide sandbags, as the transformer was leaking oil.
