Young group busted in Adelaide with alleged stolen alcohol haul after police foil bus getaway

Nine youths have been arrested after police stopped an Adelaide Metro bus headed for the city – where they allegedly found a huge haul of alcohol from an eastern suburbs bottle shop.

Nine young people have been arrested as police stop a bus and allegedly find a haul of alcohol from a Marden bottle shop theft.

Police were called to a bottle shop on Lower Portrush Rd about 9.20am on Thursday after reports a group of people had entered and stolen a large amount of alcohol.

The group then left and boarded a bus toward the city – but police were quick to track down the bus and stopped it on Botanic Rd, Adelaide.

Police found the group, including a teen as young as 14, and a number of the stolen bottles of alcohol worth hundreds of dollars.

Nine individuals were arrested and charged with theft including a 20-year-old Para Hills woman, 20-year-old Semaphore Park woman, 16-year-old Seaton boy, 14-year-old Parafield Gardens girl, 17-year-old Alice Springs girl, 22-year-old Elizabeth Vale man, 17-year-old Alice Springs boy and an 18-year-old Parafield Gardens woman.

The adults were bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on February 26 while the youths will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on February 28.

They were all issued transit barring orders and barred from entering the bottle shop.
