Several people have been caught in breach of South Australia’s statewide lockdown restrictions, including a woman who refused to wear a mask while shopping in the Adelaide Hills.
Just before 11.30am on Wednesday, police were called to a supermarket at Littlehampton after workers saw a woman shopping without a mask.
She allegedly refused to comply when she was asked to put one on.
“Police arrived a short time later and spoke to the woman at length, explaining the direction and the requirement to wear a mask in shared indoor public places,” police said in a statement.
“Police will allege the woman then refused to provide her details and, following several warnings, she was arrested for failing to state her name and address.”
The 56-year-old woman, from Strathalbyn, was charged with failing to comply with a direction and refusing to state her name and address.
She was bailed to appear in the Mount Barker Magistrates Court on August 25.
Later that day, police at Port Lincoln fined a number of people after they failed to comply with the stay-at-home direction.
About 4pm, officers stopped a driver and passenger in a Toyota sedan on Bel-Air Drive.
Investigations revealed the driver, a 50-year-old from Port Lincoln, was disqualified from driving.
He was charged with driving disqualified and bailed to appear in the Port Lincoln Magistrates Court in August.
Along with his passenger, a 34-year-old from Port Lincoln, he was also issued a $1092 on-the-spot fine for failing to comply with a direction.
Another six people were issued the same fine when police were called to a house on Flinders Highway at Port Lincoln just after 5.30pm.
At the home, they found a number of people gathering for a party.
Then, about 8pm, patrols found a woman in the CBD who was also failing to comply with directions. She was also issued with a fine.
“Police remind the community that, under the current direction, you are required to stay home unless you are leaving for an essential reason,” police said.
