The two men who allegedly left Kellie Finlayson’s younger brother, Jake Gardner, with severe facial injuries have been identified.
Victor Cassano and Hector Ata Erdemsel, both 24, were both granted bail in the Port Lincoln Magistrates Court on Monday after the alleged brutal attack outside a Port Lincoln pub.
The 26-year-old was knocked unconscious and sustained severe facial injuries after the alleged assault outside the Pier Hotel on Tasman Tce, around 8.45pm on Saturday.
He was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and later travelled to Adelaide to receive head scans.
Video footage later emerged of the alleged assault, which shows Mr Gardner lying on the footpath outside the hotel.
Police allege that phone footage from a witness shows a man elbowing the victim to the head.
Mr Cassano and Mr Erdemsel were charged with assault and were refused police bail before they appeared in the Port Lincoln Magistrates Court on Monday.
During the court hearing, the Port Lincoln men were granted bail to appear in court again later this month and were ordered to hand over their passports.
Court documents released to The Advertiser allege Mr Cassano and Mr Erdemsel assaulted Mr Gardner and thereby caused harm to him.
The offence is aggravated as it is further alleged that the men committed the assault while in company with one another.
In October last year, Mr Gardner’s sister, Kellie – who’s married to AFL star Jeremy Finlayson – opened up about her bowel cancer battle.
