A traffic stop at Newton on Tuesday night turned into a large drug bust, with two men facing court over serious drug trafficking offences and money laundering.
Police stopped a car on Newton about 10.30pm and found a 1kg of meth.
Following further investigations, police searched two addresses at Findon and Seaton where they uncovered 13kg of drugs, cash and jewellery.
Police seized 11kg of methamphetamine, 2kg of cocaine, over $27,000 in cash and jewellery.
Two men, a 38-year-old from Seaton and a 52-year-old from Findon were arrested.
The pair have been charged with serious drug trafficking offences and money laundering and
appeared at the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday after they were refused police bail.
Officer in Charge of Serious and Organised Crime Branch, Detective Superintendent Billy Thompson, said people involved in drug trafficking activities “do so purely for their own greed”.
“Illicit drugs pose a significant risk to the safety of our community,” Mr Thompson said.
“If you choose to traffic drugs you should understand that South Australia Police will find you and we will be relentless as we investigate and bring those responsible to justice.”
According to figures by The National Drug and Alcohol Centre, cocaine has a street value of $350 per gram, meth powders could cost $200 a gram while meth crystal could see users forking out $475 per gram.
