Attack at Walkey Heights (7NEWS)

Two girls have been arrested after an attack on a Drake’s supermarket employee at Walkley Heights.

Camera captured the moment a Drake’s employee confronted an alleged shoplifter at the Walkley Heights store.

The suspect lashes out at the employee, pulling her hair. When another employee tried to help, the suspect started to throw lollipops at her.

Drake supermarket owner, John Paul Drake told 7News that the incident was quite confronting.

“This footage needs to be out there so people can understand, this is some of the things we are dealing with on the front line and it’s just not acceptable.”

CCTV footage showed two girls apparently shoving supermarket items in their jacket pockets throughout the store.

A 14-year-old Walkley Heights girl was arrested and charged with aggravated theft and assault.

She was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on August 5.

A 17-year-old girl from Walkley Heights was reported for aggravated theft and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

“The power of CCTV in this example is proven to be very successful because the one thing about the camera, it actually doesn’t lie,” Mr Drake said.

Superintendent Matt Nairn told 7News: “No one, it doesn’t matter if you’re a retail worker, trader, working in a liquor store, or anything deserves the right to be assaulted.”
