Troy Steven Adam Lang plead guilty to spate of child sex charges including hosting website dealing in child exploitation material

A man charged with a spate of child sex offences has pleaded guilty in an attempt to get a discount on his sentence.

A Murray Bridge man has pleaded guilty to a variety of child sex offences including hosting a website dealing with child exploitation material.

Troy Steven Adam Lang, 25, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday after his defence counsel called on the matter early.

Nick Thompson, for Lang, said they’d called on the matter early so his client was eligible for an early guilty plea discount.

Lang pleaded guilty to seven offences including three counts of disseminating child exploitation material and charges of producing child exploitation material, aggravated making a child amenable to sexual activity and hosting a website dealing with child exploitation material.

Lang was arrested on January 8 after a tip-off from Queensland Police Service’s Taskforce Argos.

The offences are alleged to have occurred in Murray Bridge and the rural community of Milang, which is about 20km from Goolwa on the shore of Lake Alexandrina.

A court previously heard there is “around about 480 gigabytes of data to review and analyse”.

In a media release, SA Police Public Protection Branch detective senior sergeant Graham Tomkins said officers had persisted with the tip-off from Queensland police until they located Lang.

“The challenges posed by an investigation of this type were significant and officers never gave up on identifying this suspect,” he said.

“Alongside our partner agencies, we are absolutely committed to prosecuting anyone who goes after our community’s most vulnerable.

“Remember, everything you do online leaves a trace.”
