Two friends who died in a horror collision in the state’s South East have been remembered by their local communities.
Robyn van den Hoogen, from Nangwarry and Aileen Mckinnon, from Mount Gambier were travelling together along the Riddoch Highway near Nangwarry when their Ford station wagon collided with a Toyota ute.
Mrs van den Hoogen was pronounced dead at the scene while Mrs Mckinnon died later in hospital.
Both the driver and the passenger of the Toyota were not injured.
Ms van den Hoogen’s husband Peter expressed his grief at the death of his wife.
“Robyn loved cats and loved life.”
“She was very soft natures and would help anyone who asked for it,” he told 9News.
A post to her Facebook showed her offering to help the local community and look after any and all cats that needed a home.
Mrs Mckinnon’s social media page describes herself as loving long drives, as well as country music, camping and fishing.
The women were the 87th and 89th lives lost on SA roads this year.
