A northern suburbs family has escaped tragedy thanks to the help of tradies who aided in putting out a fire at a Para Hills home on Tuesday, 7NEWS reported.
Gas worker Teejay Surace said he and his colleagues acted quickly to get back to the trucks, grab the fire extinguishers and help put out the fire.
MFS arrived at the scene around 1pm and extinguished the fire within five minutes.
Timothy Goodwin from the MFS commended the tradies’ work.
“Great, quick actions from them,” he told 7NEWS.
“It’s probably prevented the fire spreading in the dwelling, which now means these occupants have a place to return to tonight.”
The residents, a father and his three children, were taken to hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation.
MFS spokesperson said the house did not have working smoke alarms and urged people to check theirs are working.
The spokesperson said the fire was accidentally lit.
