Teenager killed in Second Valley car crash, four others injured

A 16-year-old is dead and four other teenagers are injured after a car lost control on Main South Rd at Second Valley on Sunday afternoon.
A passenger of the vehicle – a 16-year-old Blackwood boy – died at the scene while the driver, a 17-year-old Dover Gardens boy, and three other passengers, a 16-year-old Maslin Beach boy, a 15-year-old St Morris girl, and a 15-year-old Crafers girl were injured.
They were all taken to Flinders Medical Centre with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash happened about 5.15pm on Sunday, when a Toyota HiLux ute lost control and rolled on Main South Rd.
The Advertiser understands the teenage group had been staying at the Second Valley Caravan Park with a number of adults.
The crash occurred about 2.2km from the campground on Main South Rd, heading towards Rapid Bay.
Yellow paint marks the bitumen and SES tape used to shut the road remains near the scene of the crash.
Strong, gusty winds have lashed the area for the past 24 hours.
Major Crash officers attended the scene to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash and police investigations are continuing.
Main South Rd was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
The teen’s death is the 106th life lost on South Australian roads compared to 66 at the same time last year.
