A few drinks too many can make anyone a bit sleepy but police weren’t impressed by one driver who took a nap on the road beside his car.
Police were called to Dudley St in the eastern suburb of Marryatville “to investigate reports of a man lying next to a vehicle on the roadway’’.
“Police located a Toyota Corolla sedan on the roadway with a man lying next to the open driver’s door,’’ police said. “The patrol checked the man who was uninjured and appeared to have been asleep.’’
The drowsy driver was given a breath test but he failed it.
“The man submitted to a breath test and returned a positive result of 0.133,’’ police said.
And it deteriorated from there.
“Checks revealed the man held a provisional P2 licence and he was reported for drink driving and breaching P2 conditions,’’ police said.
“The man’s car was impounded and he has been disqualified from driving for 6 months.’’
He will appear in court at a later date.
