Body of suspect found after Newton shooting leaves man in critical condition in RAH
Police have found the body of a teenager believed to be the suspect in the shooting of an 81-year-old man at Newton yesterday.

The body of a 19-year-old man who is suspected of shooting an elderly man at Newton has been found near the River Torrens.
Police received reports a man had been shot in the arm and leg just before 4pm Tuesday at Liascos Ave Newton.
Paramedics arrived and treated the man, 81, at the scene before rushing him to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
A woman from the same house, a relative of the victim, was also taken to the RAH where she was treated for shock.
Just before 7pm, loud bang sounds were heard before police with STAR Group officers arrested a man near a Liascos Ave house – but the shooting suspect remained at large.
A vehicle thought to have been driven by the suspect was found on Gorge Rd about 7.20pm Tuesday, prompting police to close the road between Bermuda Court and Corkscrew Rd while they searched for the suspect.
About two hours later, the body of a teenager believed to the shooting suspect – and known to the victim – was found near the River Torrens at Athelstone.
There are no suspicious circumstances in the man’s death and police are preparing a report for the Coroner.
Another man was earlier arrested at the scene and loaded into a police van.
Two Crime Scene Investigation vans and several police cars lined Liascos Ave on Tuesday evening, as confused neighbours pondered what had happened on their quiet street.
As well as the STAR Group officers, detectives and uniformed police were questioning neighbours.
Neighbours rushed to Liascos Ave after reports of the shooting, with many expressing their shock.
Neighbour Jo Hall was going for a run when she noticed the commotion on the street.
“I’m shocked actually, this is really quiet neighbourhood nothing ever happens,” Ms Hall said.
“I didn’t hear anything that went on.”
Another neighbour, Luke Maione, 22, got home from work and saw several police cars on his street.
“I live just on the corner here,” Mr Maione said.
“It’s quite frightening, yeah, definitely not a good feeling, especially in the Newton area.”
