SA road toll increased to 18 as 81yo Victorian woman killed in Penola crash

An 81yo woman has died at the scene of a serious crash in the state’s South-East, increasing the state’s 2025 road death toll to 18.
Police and emergency services were called to Casterton Rd, about 10 km southeast of Penola, about 10.30am on Monday, after reports of a single-vehicle rollover.
The passenger of the Toyota HiLux involved in the crash, an 81-year-old woman from Victoria, sadly died at the scene.
Driving the Toyota was another Victorian woman, 54, who was seriously injured in the crash and taken to hospital for treatment.
Major Crash Investigators attended the scene to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Casterton Rd remained closed throughout Monday with diversions in place on the Riddoch Hwy.
Police urged motorists to avoid the area where possible.
