Thousands of fake Xanax tablets and other prescription medication have been seized from a Craigburn Farm address, as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking.

Police seized 3000 tablets, prescription medication and a trafficable amount of cannabis and one litre of liquid heroin, known as heroin slushie, from the property on Friday afternoon.

About $10,800 in cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia was also seized.

A 21-year-old man was charged with trafficking in a large commercial quantity of a controlled drug and possessing prescription medication.

He was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on February 2, with the seized items to undergo forensic analysis and further charges may be made.

Police warned of the dangers of taking prescription medication not prescribed by a doctor and dangers associated with fake medicines.

“They may contain toxic or dangerous substances and are manufactured without any standards or quality control, often in unsanitary conditions in backyard laboratories,” a statement said.

“People involved in drug trafficking have no care for those that they harm through illicit drugs.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
