SATURDAY, JULY 24
MAN ATTACKED BY GROUP AT MORPHETT VALE
A man has been taken to hospital after he was attacked by a group of people at Morphett Vale.
The 33-year-old said he was assaulted by three people who were demanding money on Main South Rd about 4.15am Saturday.
The victim called out for help, and a nearby resident came out from their house, prompting the suspects to flee, heading west on Flaxmill Rd.
The victim suffered a suspected broken arm during the assault and was taken to the Noarlunga Hospital for treatment.
Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area or has CCTV should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
UNIT DESTROYED IN FIRE
A unit has been gutted in a fire at Glengowrie.
Multiple people alerted fire crews to the blaze that broke out at the Helmsdale Ave property just after 6am Saturday.
Crews were able to contain the fire to the unit, which was completely destroyed causing $250,000 damage.
No-one was injured n the incident.
The cause is yet to be determined.
FRIDAY, JULY 23
PAIR ARRESTED OVER HOME INVASION
A man and woman have been arrested over a home invasion north of the city this week.
It will be alleged the pair entered a home in Musika Ave at Pooraka just before 3.30am on Wednesday.
They confronted the occupants before a man at the house chased them onto the street, where he was assaulted.
He was treated at hospital for minor injuries, while the other occupant, a woman, was uninjured.
On Friday morning, a 26-year-old man and 38-year-old woman, both of no fixed address were arrested over the incident. They are not known to the victims.
Police will also allege the pair was found in possession of a stolen car.
They have been charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, assault and illegal use.
They were refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.
METH IN UNDIES AT GRANGE
A man has been arrested after police found him in possession of drugs, equipment, and meth stored in his underwear during a traffic stop at Grange.
Police stopped a car on Frederick Rd about 8.45pm Thursday, and searched the car. They allegedly found two ice pipes, a bong, scales, cash and cannabis.
On searching the driver with police dog Yoyo, they allegedly found methamphetamine in the man’s underwear.
The Underdale man, 51 was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and hindering police.
He was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court in August.
MAN BURNT IN ETHELTON HOUSE FIRE
A man who woke to his bed on fire has suffered burns after trying to put out the blaze at Ethelton.
The alarm was raised about 6am Friday, where a bedroom was reported on fire in Maud St.
A man in his 40s suffered burns to his right hand and both feet, but it is not known if he was taken to hospital for treatment.
The fire’s cause is thought to be due to a heater, and damages are estimated at $10,000.
THURSDAY, JULY 22
ARREST AFTER RIVERLAND HOLD-UP
A worker used a chair to chase a man out of a service station in the Riverland, after he allegedly used a machete to demand money.
About 2.20pm, a man driving a silver 1990 Ford Corsair filled up with unleaded petrol at a service station on Renmark Ave at Renmark.
Police allege he then went inside and, armed with the machete, demanded money from the attendant.
“The attendant refused to hand over any money and chased the suspect out of the store with a chair,” police said in a statement.
The suspect then fled the scene, before the car was found dumped at a Renmark North property. It was seized for forensic examination.
Just before 10pm that night, police and detectives searched a home at Paringa. They did not find anything and were about to leave when they noticed a manhole cover was upside down.
They got into the roof space, where they found the 28-year-old suspect hiding.
He was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated robbery, making off without payment, illegal use of a motor vehicle and failing to comply with emergency management directions.
He was refused bail and will appear in the Berri Magistrates Court on Thursday.
MAN ROBBED AT SALISBURY
A man was punched and robbed at a northern suburbs shopping centre on Wednesday night.
Just after 10.30pm, the man was at Parabanks Shopping Centre at Salisbury when he was approached by three men.
They demanded money, before one of the suspects punched the victim.
The trio left on foot with cash and the man’s mobile phone.
Two were caucasian – one wearing a red and white face mask – while the third was of Aboriginal appearance.
The victim was left with a minor face injury.

VIOLENT INTRUDERS CHASED FROM HOME
A man has been injured in a violent home invasion at Pooraka.
He and his partner were woken up by noise at about 3.30am to find a man and woman had broken into their Musicka Ave home.
A fight broke out between the man and the home invaders, before he chased them out to the street where they assaulted him and fled the scene.
The occupant was taken to hospital with minor injuries. His partner was unharmed.
The suspects are both described as of Aboriginal appearance.
The male, in his 20s, was 180cm tall with a slim build, a clean-shaven face and dark, afro-style hair.
He was wearing a grey hoodie and dark pants.
The female was also aged in her 20s with a solid build and long, dark, curly hair in a ponytail.
She was wearing a grey puffer jacket.
FATAL HIT-RUN AT MORPHETT VALE
A driver is on the run after a hit-run crash that killed a 20-year-old man at Morphett Vale.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist is fighting for life in hospital after a crash at Darlington on Tuesday morning.
TUESDAY, JULY 20
WOMAN BLOWS NEARLY FOUR TIMES LIMIT
A woman lost her license for a year after she allegedly blew close to four times the legal blood alcohol limit at Kadina.
The woman was stopped in a Ford sedan on Frances Tce at about 1pm on Tuesday to be breath tested by police.
The 41-year-old local woman returned an alleged reading of 0.182.
The woman lost her license for a year and her car was clamped for 28 days.
She was reported for drink-driving and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
SPEEDING DRIVER LOSES LICENSE
A man who was caught at 168km/h in a 110km/h zone at Hackham West has lost his license for six months.
The man was busted by a police radar gun on the Southern Expressway at Hackham West just before 2pm on Tuesday.
Police pulled the Toyota HiLux over and fined the 47-year-old Darlington man $1814, nine demerit points and took away his license for six months.
HIT-RUN CRASH AT GRANGE
A man has been struck by a car in a hit-run crash following a fight at Grange.
Four people were involved in the altercation in a carpark on the corner of Frederick Rd and Adare Court about 3pm Monday, during which a man was hit by a BMW.
When police arrived they found the victim, a Hendon man, 31, with serious but non-life threatening injuries after being struck.
Two men and a woman had fled the scene in a silver BMW, with SA registration XX161P.
The driver of the car is believed to have suffered a head injuries during the altercation.
He is described as caucasian, wearing a grey hoodie, about 185cm tall, of medium build, with a goatee bear covered in blood, and light brown hair.
Police say this was not a random incident as all parties involved were known to each other.
An investigation has been launched, anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

SERIOUS CRASH AT LOWER LIGHT
A man, 73, has died after the car he was driving rolled on the Port Wakefield Highway on Monday afternoon.

ARRESTS AFTER HOTEL HOLD-UPS
Two men have been arrested following hold-ups at hotels in the eastern and western suburbs.
In the first incident, a man armed with a weapon allegedly threatened staff at Windsor Hotel on North East Rd just after 6.30pm Sunday.
He left with cash, and no staff were physically injured.
A couple of hours later, just before 8.30pm, two men entered the gaming room at the Reepham Hotel on the corner of Churchill Road and Regency Road at Prospect.
They demanded cash before leaving empty-handed. They both had their faces partially covered.
No-one was injured.
Following an investigation, detectives arrested two men, who are aged 38 and 48 and are from Parkside and Munno Parra.
They were each charged with two counts of committing theft using force, and refused police bail.
Police said a black handgun possibly used in one of the robberies could have been dumped in the Brompton area.
They are asking residents to check their yards and, if they find the handgun, do not touch it but call police on 131 444.
MAN LEADS POLICE ON PURSUIT
A man has been arrested after allegedly leading police on a pursuit through Adelaide’s north in a stolen car.
Police saw a purple Nissan hatchback on Tapleys Hill Rd at Royal Park about 11.30pm Sunday, which had been stolen from the CBD last week.
The police helicopter was called to assist from above, while they followed the car along Grand Junction Rd, Churchill Rd, main North Rd and Saints Rd.
The car was spiked on Fenden Rd at Salisbury East, and police arrested the driver in the stopped car on nearby Johnswood Drive.
The driver was wanted in relation to a break-in at a business, and he was found to be in possession of electrical items believed to be stolen.
The man, 29 of no fixed address, was charged with a number of traffic offences including illegal use of a motor vehicle, serious criminal trespass and two counts of theft.
He was refused bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.
SUNDAY, JULY 18
KAYAKER RESCUED AT MARINO
A kayaker was rescued from drowning by an off-duty police officer at Marino.
Water police were called to the Marino boat ramp just after 7.15am on Sunday after a man was heard calling for assistance from the sea.
The off-duty officer saw the kayaker become trapped upside down in the water and rushed to help him.
He swam out and helped bring him back to shore.
The 57-year-old kayaker from the western suburbs was taken to Flinders Medical Centre for observation.
ELDERLY COUPLE FOUND
An elderly Victorian couple who were reported missing on Saturday have been found safe.
The family of Valerie, 73, and Laurance Elliott, 76, who travelled through SA towards Western Australia, had not heard from them since Tuesday, July 13.
Their last known location was at Ceduna, police said.
A member of the public spotted the pair at the Border Village, on the border between SA and WA.
They are continuing on their travels, safe and well.
DRINK-DRIVER NEARLY SIX TIMES OVER
An alleged drink-driver blew close to six times the legal blood-alcohol limit after crashing her car at Highbury.
Police arrived on Highbury Dr about 5.45pm on Saturday to find a woman driving a Mitsubishi sedan had crashed into a parked car.
The woman was breath tested and returned an alleged reading of 0.288.
The 52-year-old from Highbury was reported for drink driving and lost her licence on the sport for a year.
Her car was impounded for 28 days and she will appear in court at a later date.
