The charges arise from an incident on Ocean Rd at Encounter Bay on January 22, 2023.

Skinner was also charged with the lesser, alternative offences of aggravated driving without due care, and driving in a reckless or dangerous manner.

In court on Thursday, Skinner pleaded guilty to the major charges of having caused death and serious harm by dangerous driving.

Prosecutors formally withdrew the alternative counts.

The state’s chief magistrate, Judge Mary-Louise Hribal, remanded Skinner on continuing bail to face the District Court in October.

At that time, a date for sentencing submissions will be set.
