54-year-old woman dies after car collides with road train in state’s Far North
The fatal crash in the state’s Far North has left major highways closed as emergency services respond to incident.

A 54-year-old woman has died after a serious crash between a car and a truck on a major highway in the state’s far-north on Thursday.
The collision occurred at the intersection of the Stuart Highway and Olympic Dam Highway, Pimba, just before 12.30pm, after a Toyota sedan collided with a road train.
Sadly, the driver of the Toyota, a 54-year-old woman, died at the scene.
Her passenger, a 74-year-old man, was taken to hospital for the treatment of injuries.
The driver of the truck was not physically injured and underwent mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
Police said the route will remain closed for all heavy vehicles.
Heavy vehicle drivers are advised to pull over at the closest rest area while Major Crash investigators examine the circumstances of the crash.
The woman’s death is the 40th life lost on South Australian roads.
