Police have arrested a man after a hit-run that left two trapped at Freeling

A 54-year-old man has been arrested after a serious three-vehicle crash at Freeling that left two people trapped.

A man has been arrested after he allegedly fled the scene of serious three-vehicle crash near Freeling.

Emergency Service crews had to extract two people from a car involved in the crash on Fords Rd, which happened just after 11am on Sunday.

One vehicle failed to stop at the scene, so police went on a search for the vehicle and driver. Dashcam footage revealed a suspect’s vehicle and his registered address.

A 54-year-old Gawler South man was arrested and will face numerous charges, including driving in a dangerous manner and failing to render assistance.

A police spokesman said it is understood a car was attempting to overtake two other vehicles, including one towing a caravan.

The crash occurred as two cars were forced off the road. The caravan was completely destroyed in the crash.

There were no serious injuries but one occupant of a car was taken to hospital with a sore back.

The crash took place about 10km south of Kapunda, and the Thiele Highway was blocked in both directions. SAPOL sent out an alert just after 3pm to advise that the roads had since been reopened.
