A mechanic business in Adelaide’s north has become the latest business to be robbed and ransacked.

CCTV footage shows two people in hoodies arriving at 3am and throwing a brick through the glass front door, activating the alarm.

The footage then shows two people frantically searching the office looking for cash.

“The silly buggers put the money in a bag that actually had the business name written on it – UltraTune Golden Grove,” the owner said.

The UltraTune business on Helicon Drive was lucky enough to recover the stolen cash after a police chase through Salisbury ended with them dropping the bag.

After the alarm activation at 3am, police said they were quick to respond and saw two men drive off in a dark-coloured Ford sedan.

PolAir was called in to search for the vehicle and spotted the car on Park Terrace in Salisbury.

Police managed to follow the car through the backstreets, but when it came to a stop on the corner of Diment Rd and Commercial Rd, the driver and passenger fled the vehicle, police said.

Patrols chased down the driver and placed a 40-year-old under arrest on Stratford Rd.

Police have not yet found the passenger.

The cash – still in the bag – was recovered on the road beside the car.

The 40-year-old man, of no fixed address, is expected to be charged with serious criminal trespass and traffic offences.

He will be refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later on Thursday.

The Ford sedan was impounded and towed from the scene.

It follows a series of similar robberies in Adelaide recently, including at the Brickworks, in which thieves have stolen money and left a trail of destruction.

Meanwhile, a 42-year-old man from Enfield has been arrested for allegedly stealing copper from a business on Wingfield Road.

An alarm was activated at the business at 1.15am on Thursday and police said security cameras showed a man jumping the fence and into the yard.

Patrols went to the scene with Dog Operations Unit and PD Jax to conduct a search.

They found the suspect on West Terrace, where he had parked a getaway car.

The man has been charged with being unlawfully on premises and theft.

Police will allege he had stolen copper from the premises.

He was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on March 8.
