A northern suburbs man who allegedly groomed a child online for months has been charged after a multi-agency investigation.

The 20-year-old man is accused of maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship with a child, allegedly procuring them to commit indecent acts via the internet over a six-month period.

SA Police Special Crimes Investigation Section detectives on Thursday arrested the man after a joint investigation with Queensland Police.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Lyons said “online child exploitation is a borderless crime”.

“The South Australia Police and our partner agencies are absolutely committed to leaving no stone unturned to protect the vulnerable,” he said.

“I would like to thank the police from both jurisdictions for their collaboration and efforts to ensure children were protected from further harm.”

The northern suburbs man was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on October 29.
