A man charged with the attempted murder of an elderly woman has faced court for the first time from his hospital bed.
Nicolaos Malandris, 88, made no application for bail when he appeared in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court via telephone from his hospital bed on Monday.
Mr Malandris, from Wingfield, has been charged with one count of attempted murder, and one count of aggravated causing serious harm with intent.
The resident, an 85-year-old woman, was allegedly assaulted and taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police arrested an 88-year-old man at the scene without incident, who was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police said the matter was not a random incident and all parties are known to each other.
Mr Malandris will remain in custody until his next hearing in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in January, unless a bail application is called on prior.
He has requested the attendance of a Greek interpreter at that hearing.
