A 30-year-old Paralowie man will face court after taking police on a chaotic chase from Adelaide’s northern suburbs through to the Hills on Thursday night.
Aaron McCarthy – who was wanted by police on an outstanding bench warrant – was charged with numerous offences including dangerous driving to escape police pursuit, driving at a dangerous speed, driving unlicensed and failing to stop at a crash after a chaotic chase across Adelaide.
At about 9.30pm, police spotted a motorbike without number plates riding on Stebonheath Rd at Munno Para West.
They opted not to pursue the bike on the road but called in a Polair helicopter to track the Suzuki from the air.
Police tracked the motorbike as it continued through the northern suburbs before the rider stopped on Dalkeith Rd, Kudla, and allegedly pushed the bike into a shed.
The suspect emerged shortly afterward in a silver Mercedes SUV and allegedly drove away.
The car then allegedly crashed into a stationary police car on Dalkeith Rd but kept driving.
It then stopped on Elm Glade Court before the driver allegedly abandoned the car, this time taking off again in a silver Holden sedan.
Polair continued to track the car through Adelaide’s suburbs before yet another crash, when the Holden collided with a member of the public’s car just after 10pm at North Tce and Morphett St, after running a red light.
The driver eventually stopped on Lobethal Rd at Basket Range, where he abandoned the vehicle just before 11pm.
Police patrols were able to arrest the man without further incident.
He was refused bail and will appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday.
