A man is in hospital after a shocking crash in Adelaide’s north on Tuesday morning, while another man has been arrested after a pedestrian was critically injured in a separate smash hours earlier.

Emergency services were called to Bayer Rd, Elizabeth South, just after 2am on Tuesday after a Ford Falcon lost control and crashed into a tree.

The passenger, a 21-year-old woman, escaped the crash with minor injuries.

The driver, a 52-year-old Salisbury man, was pinned in the driver’s seat as the car caught fire.

MFS crews freed the man who was taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition.

Police thanked members of the public who assisted first responders and said investigations were ongoing.

It comes after a man was arrested following a serious crash at Clearview on Monday night.

Just after 10pm on Monday, emergency services were called to Hampstead Rd after reports a car had collided with a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, a 62-year-old man from Clearview, suffered critical injuries and was taken to hospital where he is being treated.

Major Crash officers went to the scene to investigate the collision.

The vehicle involved in the crash, a white Toyota Camry, was towed away for forensic examination.

Following an investigation, the driver, a 24-year-old man from Northfield, was arrested and charged with causing serious harm by careless use of a vehicle.

He was granted police bail to appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court on May 2.
