A man has been arrested over a weekend shooting incident after he crashed his car into a bollard north of the city early Monday morning.
About 1.45am, police were called to Fradd Road at Angle Vale, where a silver Mitsubishi sedan had crashed and the driver had fled the scene.
Officers recognised the car as one allegedly involved in a shooting at Munno Para West on Saturday night, which has left a man fighting for life in hospital.
They quickly set up cordons and searched the area, before the driver was found a short distance away.
He was searched and found to be in possession of a firearm.
The 31-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested and is expected to be charged with attempted murder and firearms offences.
Police believe the men are known to each other.
Just before 7pm Saturday the victim, 27, presented to the Lyell McEwin Hospital with “a gunshot wound to the face”, police said. The incident had occurred on Burwood Road.
He was rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition.
A police spokesman said his injuries were life-threatening and that detectives are “keen” to speak to any witnesses.
Local resident Mathew Long was watching the football when he and his wife heard a loud bang.
“We assumed there was a fight going on,” Mr Long, who lives on Burwood Rd, said.
“We saw about four or five people in two cars, they looked quite panicked.”
He said a black and red car sped away north on Burwood Rd.
“It seemed like they were in a panic and wanted to get out of there.”

He said he felt for the victim.
“It’s always a shock when something serious like that happens … close to home. I wouldn’t wish that upon anyone.”
Benjamin Johnson’s wife heard the shot too.
“I said to my wife ‘Do not go outside, stay in’,” Mr Johnson said.
Mr Johnson said he was very concerned about the incident.
“I’m shaking, I always want to live in an area that’s peaceful. But hearing that, I’m very very scared.”
Another woman who lives nearby but didn’t want to be identified said she heard the shot and looked out her window to see what was going on.
“We didn’t come to the door after we heard the shot,” the woman said.
“You could see the two cars out the front, one of them (the men) said ‘what the f**k did you do’?”.
“It’s very scary.”
Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Earlier in the evening, in an unrelated incident, two women robbed a bottle shop at Saints Shopping Centre, Main North Rd, Salisbury Plain just after 6.45pm. The women threatened staff with a crowbar and are yet to be found.
