Man dies as car catches fire on bridge at Wingfield

A northern suburbs man has died after a fiery car crash at Wingfield. The man’s death is the 47th life lost on South Australian roads this year.

A northern suburbs man has died in a devastating car crash at Wingfield, as police investigate the cause.

Police were called to Hanson Rd, at Wingfield about 8.30pm on Wednesday, after reports of a single vehicle collision on the bridge over the Port River Expressway.

The Nissan sedan immediately caught fire on impact and the 27-year-old male driver died at the scene.

He was the only person in the vehicle.

Hanson Rd was closed at Hines Rd along with the exit ramps from the Port River Expressway onto Hanson Rd but have since been reopened.

Major Crash investigators attended the scene to investigate.
