Man dies after alleged assault in Mount Gambier, another charged with murder

A man has been charged with murder after the death of a 65-year-old who was found with serious injuries after a “disturbance” at a block of units.

Police have charged a Mount Gambier man with murder after an incident in the state’s South-East.

Police and ambulance crews were called to a block of units in Bond St after reports of a disturbance on Tuesday, about 3pm.

When police arrived they found a 65-year-old man with serious injuries. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and rushed to hospital, where he died shortly after.

Another man, also 65, of no fixed address was arrested and was interviewed by detectives on Tuesday night.

Police have now charged him with murder and he will appear in the Mount Gambier Court on Wednesday.

The men were understood to be known to each other and no one else is being sought, police said.
