A man has lost his licence after he crashed his car into a Stobie pole while two times over the limit at Christies Beach early on Saturday.

Police received reports of a car knocking down a Stobie pole at the intersection of Dyson and Beach Rds after 2.30am.

The car allegedly fled the scene.

Witnesses of the incident gave police number plate details.

Police located the vehicle at an O’Sullivan Beach home and found the uninjured driver.

A 51-year-old man returned a positive breath test reading of 0.106.

He immediately lost his license for six months.

Police have reported the man for aggravated due car and leaving the scene of a crash along with drink driving.

The man will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Meanwhile, investigations are underway after a suspicious car fire at Morphettville early Saturday morning.

Emergency services received reports before 4.45am that a white Mitsubishi sedan was on fire at Na Botto Crt.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze quickly.

The car had minor damage and no one was injured from the blaze.
