Man arrested and expected to be charged with murder after body found in Mount Gambier home

A man is expected to be charged with murder and will face court after the body of a woman was found in a Mount Gambier home under unusual circumstances.

The woman found dead inside a Mount Gambier unit on Wednesday was identified as 55-year-old local Rachel Moresi.

A man has been arrested after a police probe into a mysterious death in Mount Gambier

Just after 1pm on Wednesday, police were called to a unit on Pick Ave after a person was seen collapsed inside a home.

The woman found dead inside a Mount Gambier unit on Wednesday was identified as 55-year-old local Rachel Moresi.

Detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Branch, with the assistance of Victorian police, arrested a 53-year-old man from Mount Gambier in Portland, Victoria.

Police believe that the man and woman are known to each other.

The man is expected to be charged with murder and will appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Friday where South Australia Police will seek his extradition to South Australia.
