Man arrested after crushing car with stolen grader in Port Lincoln
Emergency services rushed to a dramatic scene in Port Lincoln where a stolen road grader had flipped a car onto its side, trapping a young woman inside.
A man has been arrested after he allegedly stole a road grader in Port Lincoln, crashed into and flipped a car, pushing it 40 metres down the road on Sunday morning.
Just before 6am, emergency services were called to Marina Dr after reports the grader – a heavy vehicle used to build roads had crashed into a Subaru.
The grader pushed the station wagon 40 metres and forced the vehicle onto its side.
The driver of the Subaru, a 23-year-old local woman, was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The grader was found abandoned on Barley Rd a short time later after it had been stolen from St Andrews Dr a short time earlier.
The suspect – a 47-year-old man from Semaphore – was found nearby.
SA Police said the man was arrested and is undergoing a medical assessment at hospital.
Police will speak with him at a later date.
