A young woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a truck in Cowandilla.

A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was hit by tow-truck at Cowandilla on Wednesday evening.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Sir Donald Bradman Drive and Marion Road just after 6pm.

The pedestrian – a 34-year-old woman from Torrensville – was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The 26-year-old truck driver from Morphett Vale was uninjured and is assisting the investigation.

Police are investigating the circumstances around the collision with the help of Major Crash.

Traffic at the intersection was restricted and people were asked to avoid the area, but restrictions have since lifted.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or motorists with dashcam vision of the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Kingsford crash

Two people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after two cars collided at Kingsford on Wednesday.

Emergency services were alerted to a serious crash at the intersection of Argent Road and Sturt Highway just before 9.50am.

Police said the driver and passenger of the red Toyota Corolla sedan, identified as a 70-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman from Waterloo, were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The Advertiser understands the man is in critical condition after suffering multiple injuries and the woman is in serious condition after sustaining chest, shoulder and pelvic injuries.

Both have been rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

A 48-year-old Glengowrie man, the driver and only person in the blue Toyota station wagon – the other car involved – was taken to hospital for assessment and to have a sample of his blood taken, police said.

Major Crash officers are at the scene examining the circumstances of the crash.

Northbound traffic on Sturt Highway was reduced to one lane in both directions. Roads are expected to be reopened in the next hour.

Police have urged motorists to avoid the area as traffic is blocked in both directions on Argent Road.

Drink driver damages their car by driving into Magill hotel

An allegedly drunk and speeding driver has crashed into a hotel in Magill.

Just before 3.15am on Tuesday, police patrols spotted a Mazda hatchback travelling fast on Kensington Rd.

Police conducted a U-turn with the intention of detaining the Mazda driver, but before they could reach him the car crashed into the wall of the Tower Hotel on the intersection of St Bernards Rd and Magill Rd.

The driver – a 24-year-old man from Magill – was not injured. He was breath-tested and allegedly returned a reading of 0.145.

He has been charged with aggravated driving without due care and drink driving, instantly losing his licence for six months, and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on August 21.

BMW crashes into pole

A 37-year-old man has been taken to hospital and reported for driving under the influence after the BMV vehicle he was driving crashed into a pole in North Adelaide on Sunday night.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of King William Rd and Sir Edwin Smith Ave about 5.30pm following reports a car had left the road, mounted the kerb and slammed into a light pole.

The vehicle – displaying different number plates on the front and back – was smoking and the airbags had been deployed.

Police alleged the driver had left the scene of the crash but was located shortly after as he was returning.

It’s also alleged he appeared to be under the influence and was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution where he submitted to mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

The man was reported for driving under the influence, driving without due care, leaving the scene of a crash, and driving unlicensed, unregistered and with unassigned plates.

The car was towed from the scene and he has been summonsed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court at a later date.
