Two sleepy people were woken to curious SAPOL officers and a police dog who found them napping in a stolen car overnight.
At about 5.15am on Saturday, SA Police patrols were travelling on Blakeney Rd in Ottoway when they saw a blue Isuzu ute parked, but still running, on the wrong side of the road and on an unusual angle.
Checks revealed the car had been stolen from a home in North Adelaide earlier in the week.
When police approached the vehicle, they saw a driver and a passenger both asleep inside.
Police dog Chaos and his handler were called in to assist as officers blocked the car in.
When he woke, the driver allegedly attempted to put the vehicle in motion but was quickly stopped and then arrested without incident.
A 29-year-old man, along with a 26-year-old woman – both from Ceduna – were arrested and charged with illegal use.
The man was further charged with providing false details and other outstanding matters, and was refused police bail to appear in court on Monday.
The woman was granted police bail to appear in court at a later date, and the car was towed from the scene.
