A young Windsor Gardens man may spend the next four months behind bars on remand following an alleged stabbing at a quiet Campbelltown home.

Ashra John Myra Stuart, 18, made no application for bail as he appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court in front of magistrate David McLeod – charged with one count of aggravated causing serious harm with intent.

SA Police had initially charged Mr Stuart with attempted murder but later downgraded the charge.

Emergency services were called to Cedar Ave just after 6.30pm on Wednesday to reports of a violent disturbance, where they found a man with stab injuries outside a home.

The victim, a 34-year-old man from Campbelltown, was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

It is understood neighbours came out to the street when they heard a woman yelling for help. They then saw a man covered in blood standing in a neighbouring driveway.

Several residents in Cedar Ave have told The Advertiser police were at the same property just days before the incident.

It is understood the charged man is the son of the crying woman.

The Advertiser also understands the alleged victim and the woman had previously been in a relationship but it had recently ended.

The woman’s son, who was arrested, was understood to have been living in a granny flat-type building at the rear of the property.

On Thursday morning, the residents – who said they did not know the house occupants well – told The Advertiser that on hearing a woman’s screams for help, and rushing to her aid, they found her holding a baby girl.

They told The Advertiser the 34-year-old man who was seriously injured in the incident “didn’t act like he had been stabbed”.

“He lifted up his shirt and there was just blood everywhere,” one said.

Detectives were seen scouring through the area in front of that dwelling while the property was a crime scene on Thursday.

Blood trails were visible on the fence, and droplets along the driveway leading to several smears across the road next to a traffic cone.

It is understood that is where neighbours helped move the man before emergency services arrived on scene.

A knife was recovered from the property on Wednesday night and sent for forensic testing.

In court, Mr McLeod remanded Mr Stuart in custody, but reminded him he could apply for bail at any time.

“Once you’ve spoken to your lawyer, and your lawyer has a better understanding of the strength of the prosecution case, it may well be that an application for bail may be brought on at that time,” he said. “At this stage, you’re remanded in custody until December.”

Mr Stuart will next face court in December.
