A woman has died after a horrific two-car crash on the Yorke Peninsula.
Just before 1.30pm, two cars collided at the intersection of the Kadina-Cunliffe Rd and Thrington Rd at Boors Plain, which is located between Moonta and Kadina.
A 66-year-old woman from the Yorke Peninsula, who was the driver and sole occupant of a Subaru wagon, died at the scene.
The other driver, a 59-year-old man, behind the wheel of a Toyota 4WD, has been taken to Wallaroo Hospital with minor injuries.
Police say the stretch of road will be closed for several hours as Major Crash officers investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash..
The woman’s death is the 47th life lost on SA roads this year compared with 62 at the same time last year.
Earlier, a man was taken to hospital after driving his car on the wrong side of the road and crashing his car in the CBD.
Around 6.30am emergency services were called to Russell St after reports had crashed his car into a Stobie pole after being seen driving on the wrong side of the road.
Police located the driver and his Toyota SUV, which had crashed into a wall, causing minor damage.
A 19-year-old Campbelltown man was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment of minor injuries and his vehicle was towed from the scene.
A blood sample was taken for analysis.
