Kristoffer Graeme Coghlan, 34, charged with disorderly behaviour after jumping a counter to eat ice cream

A 34-year-old man spent his birthday behind bars after allegedly jumping a counter to eat ice cream before throwing it at staff and customers.

A 34-year-old man spent is birthday in custody after allegedly eating ice cream with his hands and helping himself to patrons leftovers at a popular Adelaide restaurant.

Kristoffer Graeme Coghlan sat slumped as he appeared via video link in Christies Beach Magistrate Court as his duty solicitor applied for bail after his alcohol-fuelled weekend.

A police prosecutor told the court Coghlan first attended The Yiros King in Reynella on Sunday night, July 11, when employees observed Coghlan allegedly taking drink from the fridge without paying before he made his way over to the counter and began eating the ice cream with his hands.

“He was smoking a cigarette and trying to remove hand sanitiser and drinks from the fridge,” she said.

“He then ate ice cream from the tubs with his hands and throwing the ice cream around the shop, swearing at staff and customers.”

Police attended the scene and arrested the man.

Just a mere 24 hours later, Coghlan returned to ‘junk food corner’, allegedly heavily intoxicated, making his way into the Pancake Kitchen where witnesses observed Coghlan walking up to a table and eating their leftovers.

He was charged with disorderly behaviour and failing to comply with a bail agreement.

Magistrate Susan O’Connor ordered a home detention report.

Coghlan will face court again in July.
