Jessica Anne Mackie pleaded not guilty to drug trafficking after Croydon raid

Police allege this woman is one of SA’s commercial dealers for meth and fantasy. So will she stand trial?

Breaking the ice: Meth use in SA

A woman has denied trafficking after police uncovered two different types of drugs and a precursor during a western suburbs raid.

Jessica Anne Mackie, 34, pleaded not guilty in the Adelaide Magistrates Court last week to multiple charges, including commercial drug trafficking and drug trafficking.

Counsel, for Ms Mackie, conceded there was a case to answer on the charges.

Police searched an address at Croydon at about 9pm on March 16 and uncovered about six litres of hypophosphorous acid, 1.6 litres of fantasy and 19g of methamphetamine.

No one was present at the time.

Just after 8.30pm the following day, police returned to the Croydon address and arrested Ms Mackie and charged her with trafficking a commercial quantity of a controlled drug.

If found guilty, the basic charge of trafficking a commercial quantity of drugs carries with it a maximum sentence of 25 years imprisonment and/or a $200,000 fine.

Ms Mackie was further charged with possessing a large commercial quantity of precursor and one count of drug trafficking.

Hypophosphorous acid is a chemical compound used to manufacture methamphetamine.

Ms Mackie is currently on home detention bail after appearing in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court in March from custody.

Last week, Chief Magistrate Judge Mary-Louise Hribal committed Ms Mackie to the District Court for arraignment in April.
