Jayden Glover sent video of 15-year-old girl performing sex act to ‘brag’ to his ex-girlfriend, court told

A young man sent a video on Snapchat to his ex-girlfriend to “brag” a drunk 15-year-old girl was performing a sex act on him, a court has heard.

A young man videoed a 15-year-old girl performing a sexual act on him before sending it to his ex-girlfriend to “humiliate” his victim, a court has heard.

Jayden Glover, 20, appeared in the District Court on Monday where a court heard he recorded the young girl performing a sexual act on him before sending it to his ex-girlfriend and another girl.

Glover, who was 18 at the time of the offending, pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 17 and one count of producing child exploitation material in December last year.

His lawyer, Stacey Carter said Glover, of Glengowrie, was “remorseful” for filming the sexual act performed by the victim, who was intoxicated at the time, and sending it to his ex-girlfriend and another girl.

“Mr Glover had previously been in a relationship … and he’d only recently broken up with her, so he’d only recently become single and the complainant knew that,” she said.

“At all times, he believes she was consenting, she was the one initiating and she was on top of him.

“Foolishly, immaturely, he filmed it and sent it to his ex-girlfriend and one other girl and he owns that it was very stupid, it was on Snapchat.”

Prosecutor Peter Cannell said it was not the prosecution’s position that the victim initiated the act.

Judge Geraldine Davison said she would not be taking into consideration if the victim was a willing participant or not as, due to her age, she was unable to consent by law.

Prosecutor Peter Cannell told the court on Monday the video shows the 15-year-old victim was not “an unwilling participant” but did not consent to the video being taken.

“I still make the submission, Your Honour, that there was a callousness in this offending … the act of filming it, capturing it, recording it, goes one step further than engaging in the act itself, which is an offence,” he said.

“And then sending it to others, this has led to the harm that the victim speaks of.

“It shows an intent to humiliate, I still make that submission Your Honour, and degrade the victim and it’s an act, essentially, of bragging or bravado.”

Ms Carter said her client has no previous criminal history and asked Judge Davison to suspend his sentence, not record a conviction and place him on a bond to be of good behaviour.

“The accused is very remorseful,” she said.

Glover will be sentenced on Friday.
