National Socialist Network figure Joel Davis believes 14-year-old girls should be allowed to marry adult men with their father’s consent.
The 29-year-old made the shocking claim on national podcasts and forums seen by The Advertiser.
Mr Davis, from Victoria, was arrested on Tuesday, January 28 as he waited for 16 fellow NSN members who were appearing in court who were charged over an Australia Day protest. He was charged with two counts of displaying a Nazi symbol.
The Advertiser has now learned Mr Davis believes parents, not laws, should decide when their daughter is “old enough to marry” adult men.
“Ultimately it should be up to parents to decide when their child is ready for marriage” he said on a nationalist podcast show.
“I don’t give a shit about the laws of this country, according to canon law a woman can marry at 14 and a man can marry at 16. To me that’s reasonable.”
Mr Davis said he wasn’t referencing his own personal preference but “just debating the premise”.
Mr Davis said on the podcast the best person to make the decision about whether a child could marry was the girl’s father.
“That’s one of the main problems today, you don’t really have to deal with a girl’s dad in order to have a relationship with a girl - which really should exist because if you’re like a girl’s father you have her best interests in heart,” he said.
“He understands men, he knows if a guy is a dickhead, that’s why you need a kind of fatherly oversight over the whole process.”
A spokesman from the Child Protection Minister Katrine Hildyard said the “state government will play no role in platforming these vile views”.
Mr Davis has previously said Pakistani pedophiles should be executed and led protests at events where drag queens read stories to children holding up a banner that says “Destroy Pedo Freaks”.
During one podcast interview, Mr Davis also claims to have once been a far-left activist who was kicked out of the group by “women with blue hair” because he tried to organise “building weapons” for the group - before later becoming a Nazi.
Late last month, The Advertiser revealed a series of messages on the SA NSN’s 15-member invite-only “SA Fitness Group” discussing raping police officers and “raping Jewish women with swords” on a secret internal chat group. Davis is not a part the SA Fitness Group chat.
The chat group - consisting of members from the SA Chapter of one of Australia’s largest far-right extremist group - on the Telegram encrypted app also includes the men discussing raping Jewish women until their pelvis break.
