A man attempting to flee police on a stolen motorbike was caught after he stalled the vehicle’s engine at Findon.

Police went to the Findon Shopping Centre on Grange Rd after people reported two motorbikes were hooning at the back of the centre about 7pm Tuesday.

When they arrived, they saw the two motorbikes, but both sped away.

The second rider stalled his bike, and attempted to run off on foot but was arrested.

The motorbike was bearing an incorrect number plate and was stolen from Mawson Lakes on December 15.

Police searched the rider and allegedly found a small bag of methamphetamine in his shoe and a flick knife in his bag.

The Elizabeth East man, 27, was charged with illegal use, resisting arrest, possessing a controlled drug and carrying an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The second rider remains on the run.

Meanwhile, a Port Adelaide restaurant was significantly damaged after a motorist crashed into the front wall of the business.

The collision happened at the Commercial Rd business about 8.30pm Tuesday.

The driver, a Semaphore Park woman, 70, was not injured and after exchanging particulars with the business owner, she drove off.

No customers were injured and investigations are ongoing.
