A P-plater has been caught driving four times over the legal limit in the state’s South-East after being stopped for a mobile driver test, police say.

About 11:45pm Friday, police stopped a vehicle in Robertson Street, Naracoorte, for a mobile driver test.

The driver, a 20-year-old Hindmarsh Valley man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.200 – four times the legal limit for a fully licensed driver.

Further checks by police revealed the man held a provisional licence.

He was issued with a 12-month immediate loss of licence and reported for drink driving and breaching the conditions of his provisional licence.

His vehicle was also impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
