SE Freeway traffic: Truck fire torches toilet paper haul

Two trailer loads of toilet paper have been incinerated in a truck fire that left traffic backed up on the SE Freeway this afternoon.

A truck carrying toilet paper has burst into flames on the South Eastern Freeway.

Shortly after 4pm emergency services were called to the city bound side of the freeway njear the Heysen Tunnels.

A truck pulling two trailers of toilet paper had caught alight, sending thick smoke billowing over both lanes of the major route.

City bound lanes were closed as the Metropolitan Fire Service battled the blaze while traffic out of the city was affected by the smoke.

There are understood to be no injuries.

Fears remain for the state of the precious cargo of toilet paper being hauled by the truck.
