A major city road was closed to all traffic after a pedestrian was struck by a bus in the CBD.

Police and emergency services were called to Grenfell St after reports a bus had struck a pedestrian outside Adelaide Arcade on Monday, just after 7.30pm.

About 9pm, Major Crash investigators arrived at the scene. On Tuesday morning, police confirmed a woman had died.

Teejay Size, 18, and his brother Matthew Size, 42, were on the bus when they said it struck the woman aged in her “50s or 60s”.

“It looked like she was crossing the road but didn’t see the bus,” Matthew said.

Grenfell St was closed to all traffic from King William St to Pulteney St, with buses diverted around the crash.
