Fourth death on SA roads as car slams into Stobie pole at Walkley Heights

A 70-year-old man has died after a crash at Walkley Heights. The man’s death is the fourth life lost on South Australian roads this year, compared to 11 at this time last year.

A 70-year-old man has died in a crash at Walkley Heights after his car left the road and slammed into a Stobie pole.

The driver was the sole occupant of the car and died at the scene.

Police and emergency services were called to Wright Rd about 9.30pm on Wednesday, January 31, after reports that a red Mitsubishi sedan had struck a Stobie pole.

Major Crash officers went to the scene to examine the circumstances of the collision.

Traffic restrictions were in place on Wright Rd for several hours but have since been cleared.
