Previously, prosecutors alleged he was driving a getaway car involved in three service station robberies that occurred in the space of 17 minutes on May 17 this year.

They alleged CCTV footage showed two 17-year-olds robbing all three of the OTR outlets, as well as Mr Clough sitting in the car at the scene of the third robbery.

The court has also heard Mr Clough’s arrest led to him losing custody of the child known as “Jimmy”, his son with former partner Emma Jade Short.

Ms Short, 34, and Mr Clough’s brother Rodney, 40, have yet to plead to one count each of having criminal neglected and allegedly scalded Jimmy on August 8.

On Thursday, the court heard the robberies occurred at Mitchell Park, St Marys and Pasadena on April 7 this year.

It heard Mr Clough and his co-accused, who are youths and cannot be named, stole cash and tobacco worth $2145 from the three outlets.

It also heard the group were allegedly armed with, and threatened to use, a weapon during the robberies - the nature of that item was not revealed in court.

Counsel for Mr Clough said they had attempted to resolve the case by negotiating with prosecutors, but had been unsuccessful.

The state’s chief magistrate, Judge Mary-Louise Hribal, recorded Mr Clough’s not guilty pleas and remanded him in custody.

He will face the District Court in January, when a trial date will be set.
